Why I Left A Stable Income To Pursue My Dreams

My name is Samantha McDaniel, but you can call me Sam. I’m a 5th grade teacher by trade, but recently ventured out as an entrepreneur. I left a stable income to go on an unpredictable adventure. Essentially, I was entering the unknown battlefield of business. Sounds crazy, huh?

I’m married to a wonderful man and we have two young boys, ages 2 and 4. I came to a point in my career where I no longer had a healthy work-life balance. I was bringing home the afflictions of my day and projecting it onto my family. My family did not deserve to get the worst of me, the last thought, or the emotional leftovers I was bringing to the dinner table.

So, I stepped out in faith and started Allura Media, a social media marketing agency. My husband and I started this company to help small businesses grow and gain more customers by using social media marketing and advertising. (Don’t we sound fancy.) There was a fire in my heart that told me I had a strong purpose in the world that surpasses the reality of being an employee.

Oddly enough, while I was in the career I thought was my calling, I began searching for my passion. It was an unusual feeling. How do you find your passion? Passion isn’t in a person, place, or thing. Passion is something inside of you. Passion is a form of energy. I decided to follow that energy and my natural enthusiasm. I began unlocking something that was already inside of me. That’s when Allura Media was born.

Now I spend my days creating content, managing social media for businesses, running ads, helping clients reach their goals, and networking with other like-minded business owners. And let me tell you…it is AMAZING! Whenever I am doing these day-to-day things, I feel energized; and that is how I know I have found my passion.

Today I challenge you to try to understand yourself, fix your work-life balance, and determine what problems you want to solve….what makes you tic? That’s all that matters.

Much love,

X Sam
